Counting Hairs

EVERY…. I’ll say the word again. EVERY single hair on your head is numbered. Wow. God knows how many hairs are on each of our individual heads. Let that marinate. *You can shout right here… I’ll wait*. Isn’t it amazing to know He is invested in us fully. He cares about every single detail of our lives. Do you know how many hairs are on your head? Have you ever tried to count the hairs on your head? Do you think you could? Personally, I don’t think I could. I think it’s impossible. But I am glad that I serve & worship a God where NOTHING is impossible! So, the fact that he knows how many hairs are on my head and I don’t at this point in my life means he has been in control since before the beginning. He has mine and your path set for an abundant life… if we follow Him. And even if we go bald (or bald already 😉 ) he’ll still be in control.

Find rest in knowing that we do not have to worry. We do not have to be afraid. We do not have to question our destiny in Christ. We don’t have to be defeated by inconsistencies, mistakes, misuse, setbacks, or storms! I can not trust anybody on this earth more than I do God and The Savior, Jesus Christ. Because He has my best interest at heart. My mom doesn’t even know how many hairs are on my head! And she birthed me!! …and to the best of her ability she’s always had my best interests at heart! Yes, she cares about the details of my life, but God cares more. And that is assurance. That is love. Fret not. Keep pressing 🙂

My 26

I’m the type of person who loves to make meaning of things and use it for motivation to help myself and others.

First off let’s get this straight:
There is no correlation between age and wisdom. How old you are in wisdom counts more than how old you are in age!

I always ask ppl how it feels to be their age. Most of the time the answer is bland and dull But shouldn’t it be more? Shouldn’t “every round go higher”? And if not, what are you NOT doing to increase?

What do you mean by increase Whit?

Thanks for asking 🙂

What are you doing to increase your knowledge?
How are you increasing your wealth?
How are you increasing your happiness?
How are you increasing your faith?
How are you building and improving your relationship with others?

I started thinking over my accomplishments, mistakes, goals, and choices in comparison to where I am in my life and I was pleased with myself. I’m happy with my journey! That’s ultimately what it’s all about. If when you lay down at night and you are at peace with yourself then I think that’s the best place to be in life. Being at peace doesn’t mean you your complacent, it means you’re on your way to much more… Hence this “my 26” list… I’ve learned a lot in my 7 months of being 26. I still have 5 months before I am 27 and I am a witness.. Every round DOES go higher!! Can’t wait to see what increases my 27 holds!!

Earthly Serpents

Women are influenced easily (Men too). Society tells us how we SHOULD look, when we should marry, how we should date, what to wear, what to think… And we listen. When God has already told us what the truth is. We are fearfully and wonderfully made! this means we are capable, unique, equipped… etc.. We don’t need counsel from the ungodly. We don’t need anyone to tell us how pretty we are when God designed you perfectly in his image. We don’t need anyone telling us what we should eat when God already said gluttony was shameful. We don’t need any person telling us its okay to be sexual and promiscuous when we know we should honor our temples. Stop listening to those who don’t have your best interest at heart. Some ppl want you to fail. They want you to be weak. They want you to submit to pressure. They want you to value their opinions more than God’s. These serpents may be in your family, they could be ppl you’re calling friends, they are on your job, they are everywhere… Be mindful of Earthly serpents that deter you from anything Godly, positive, or edifying. And I’m gonna keep it real and go a step further and say… You can seek Godly counsel however many times you feel but until you learn EFFECTIVE communication with God you will still feel somewhat lost in your life journey and situations. Don’t miss out on the counsel of God personally by continuing to listen to societal norms and depending on others to bring you God’s word and works for your life. ~ (Inspired by Genesis 3:1)

Favor IS fair.

I really don’t like the phrase “favor ain’t fair”. Why wouldn’t it be fair? God is all-knowing, all-powerful. He reigns/rains on the just as well as the unjust (Matthew 5:45). Favor is definitely fair. If you’re faithful over a few things: tithes, obedience, abstinence,..etc. then he will bless you accordingly (Matthew 25:23). Don’t worry about those who are living in constant sin (notice I said constant– we all sin and come short.. but what makes a difference is how constant or disciplined we are in our sins.). These people are only living for “right now”. A true Christ follower understands that this world, these material things, money, sex,..etc won’t last. Real treasures are intangible like love, patience, confidence, life, & eternal life. Real treasures are stored in Heaven. That’s why the Bible encourages you, as a Christ-believer to set your sights on things in Heaven (Colossians 3:1). Heaven is your final place. This world is not our home.

Realize Your Favor:

US: “God, I’ve been doing my best to live in your will, I know I’m not perfect but I’ve been trying my very best, and I still can’t seem to catch a break. But so-&-so over there does what they want and they have money, the fliest ride, a nice apartment, & all the hottest clothes,… Why can’t I have all that too, especially if I’m doing what you asked of me? Favor ain’t fair.”

God: “My child, don’t covet your neighbor (Deuteronomy 5:21). I love them just as much as I love you. It may look good to you, but look at what you have. Your family is so close and loving to one another, this person has no family at all. You found someone to love and they love you back, this person has all of these assets and no one to share it with because all they want is money. You sleep peacefully at night, this person tosses and turns in worry of the next dollar they want to make. Their treasures are here on earth because they live in the world. They seek instant gratification. But you my child, I see your diligence and each day your obedience toward me adds more to your treasure in my kingdom. Just wait til you see the mansion and treasure I have for you! You will be amazed. Just keep trusting me. I will show you more than you heart can hold. Be thankful. Favor is fair. “

“but God” is one of the most powerful phrases! It’s joy. It’s peace that surpasses all understanding. It’s a glimmer of light in the midst of darkness. It’s the epiphany that comes when you realize God has your back. It strengthens your faith and let’s you know that God will not and has not forgotten you. Here are a few passages that exemplify how God is constant, faithful, and ALWAYS in the midst.

We may make our plans, but God has the last word. (Proverbs 16:1 GNT)

But God became my hideout, God was my high mountain retreat, (Psalm 94:22 MSG)

God’s various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. (1 Corinthians 12:6 MSG)

They hit me when I was down, but God stuck by me. (2 Samuel 22:19 MSG)

the seed was planted, Apollos watered the plants, but God made you grow. (1 Corinthians 3:6 MSG)

My father and mother walked out and left me, but God took me in. (Psalm 27:10 MSG)

But God stepped in and saved me from certain death. I’m alive again! Once more I see the light!’ (Job 33:28 MSG)

But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. (Romans 5:8 MSG)

Don’t you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now-life for many people. (Genesis 50:20 MSG)

Don’t, enemy, crow over me. I’m down, but I’m not out. I’m sitting in the dark right now, but God is my light. (Micah 7:8 MSG)

The Aramean army was quite small, but God used them to wipe out Joash’s large army-their punishment for deserting God, the God of their ancestors. Arameans implemented God’s judgment against Joash. (2 Chronicles 24:24 MSG)

But God told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7 MSG)

Jesus said to them, “You are the ones who make yourselves look right in other people’s sight, but God knows your hearts. For the things that are considered of great value by people are worth nothing in God’s sight. (Luke 16:15 GNT)

But God doesn’t lose his temper. He’s powerful, but it’s a patient power. Still, no one gets by with anything. Sooner or later, everyone pays. Tornadoes and hurricanes are the wake of his passage, Storm clouds are the dust he shakes off his feet. (Nahum 1:3 MSG)

But God raised him from the dead, (Acts 13:30 NIV)

but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. (Psalm 66:19 NIV)

For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. (Hebrews 3:4 NIV)

but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. (Acts 10:40 NIV)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 NIV)

But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself. (Psalm 49:15 NIV)

But God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, (1 Corinthians 1:27 MSG)

Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. (Philippians 2:27 NIV)

But God gives to it the body that He plans and sees fit, and to each kind of seed a body of its own. (1 Corinthians 15:38 AMP)

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever. (Psalm 73:26 AMP)

As for you, you thought evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring about that many people should be kept alive, as they are this day. (Genesis 50:20 AMP)

You could be at your worst or your lowest right now, …..but God is in control.

7 Reasons Why Being a “Hater” is a Waste of Time!

7 Reasons Why Being a “Hater” is a Waste of Time

The #1 reason is plain and simple: You were created by God as an individual. You are unique and unlike any other person on earth!!! For hater’s this means nothing, but for lover’s this means everything! (I’ll break it down: It means you have a place and a purpose like no other) hater’s keep reading… it gets easier to understand.

#2 (another plain and simple reason) it doesn’t do you any good to hate! PERIOD.

Reason #3 We are all predestined for greatest, whether it’s on a small scale or a larger scale. Check out the reference: Jeremiah 1: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart…”. See… God already had a plan specifically for you before you were even conceived!

Reason #4 Just because someone is better off, has this or that, or has a certain gift you wish you had doesn’t make them better or you worse (well you are worse if you’re constantly focused on what the next person has that you don’t have). We all have gifts that are meant to work together to achieve the ultimate purpose: to Glorify God and secondly, to be successful and reach our highest potential in all aspects of life – spiritually, career wise, educational attainment, relationships. We are all different. We all have different strengths, attributes, and gifts. But we are all governed by the same ONE! Check the reference (it’s much longer that the first but I guarantee it’s worth the read):

Corinthians 12: 4 “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.19 If they were all one part, where would the body be?20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?

So you see. Just because your gift may be cutting grass and you have a brother that builds houses doesn’t mean your part as a grass cutter is any less… Because the potential homeowner still needs a house built and his or her grass cut! Or just because one sister has a Louie bag and yours is from TJ Maxx doesn’t mean anyone is better… Don’t the two purses do the same thing? (Personally, I’d rather be the sista with a bunch of nice bags from TJ Maxx and come out waaay cheaper than the sista with ONE expensive bag just because the name is Louie—but that’s just me) Anywho….

Reason #5 If you are a hater and your energy does go into worrying or coveting the next person you will miss out on what God has for you (and be the loser that you are today)! Corinthians 12: 18: “But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” I think I will “say” that again: “But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” Wow! God is amazing. The gift you have was given to you because he wanted you to have it! He knew you would be perfect for it! And if he created you how he wanted you, don’t you think he will equip you for it? He knows the path he has for you and it is a plan to keep you from harm and to prosper you (Jeremiah 29:11). So you’re losing by not cultivating your own gift. If he so desires, the grass cutter can easily turn into a landscaper with the right cultivation and belief in self. Another reference: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” – Proverbs 23:7 – if you think as a hater… you are.

Reason #6 The greatest gift in life is love not hate. (You get back what you give! Hating makes you miss out on your gift of love.) Supporting your fellow man, not downing him because he’s trying different things, encouraging an adolescent in school, not discouraging him or her because you missed your opportunity to go to school, giving to the needy, not turning your nose up because you just got paid — these are ways in which we are connected in life—the fellow man can be the next CEO that offers your child a job, or that adolescent you encouraged could become your nurse and have to take care of you one day, or that person who was in need could have fought in a war that helped save this country. Creating a cycle of love and not hate creates a cycle of success and harmony. Which cycle are you a part of —love or hate?

And lastly reason #7 You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Be confident! Many people hate on others because they lack confidence in themselves! No one is destined to be a hater. It’s just a cowardly defense mechanism to get through life by not facing your own challenges, not believing in yourself and the ONE who created you, and being lazy! Reference time: Psalm 139: 13 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

How amazing is it to know that God took out time to create a wonderful, unique being called you? Love yourself enough to know that you don’t have to hate, you’re one of His miracle creations too 🙂 .

He Got Game…. but we own the team ;-)

I was apprehensive about tuning in to Single Ladies… I was afraid that we single ladies and Black women in particular would be illustrated in a negative light. I must say I was impressed. These are successful women who make mistakes just like the next woman… or man for that matter. The “single person’s” characteristics of lack of trust, high hopes, and retracting were all there.

Now I’m usually one to be on the guys side, don’t get me wrong… I ride for my ladies, but lets face it: we are something else ladies. (Notice I said “we”). Anyway… if you watched Single Ladies I’m sure you were familiar with Jerry and Val’s relationship (Stacey Dash and her fellow). I was totally impressed with Jerry. Which led me to my title HE GOT GAME! In my eyes, Jerry was the man! He pampered her, he was patient, he was honest, he was successful, he was attentive,…. yes he had a past, but he didn’t have baggage 😉 ….

*note: (The difference in having a past and having baggage: a past is just that, in the past. The past is evident and positive when your actions show that you have learned from it. Baggage is carried with you. It is evident and negative when your actions show that you have not let go of the past and/or learned from it.)

Jerry taught me that I should be patient with my suitor and that he should be just as patient with me. Jerry was the definition of “game”. See the male has the game, the plays, the moves, but ladies… we choose whether or not he gets playing time or the bench… or fired for that matter! But as coaches/owners of the team… we must pay him according to his worth: What is he devoting to the team? Is he devoted to the team? Does he show for practice …on time? Is he into the groupies (which gives our team a bad rep –you getting played and everyone knows it)? Is he constantly on the look out for another team/opportunity? Does he deserve endorsements (like meeting friends/family)? Is he bringing the team wins or losses? (You know a man can bring you down and you’ll be singing the song “I can do bad by myself” or a man can bring something to the table and you both can increase from each other). I could go on and on with this PERFECT metaphor… But you get my drift!

Jerry’s actions said it all. Val set her standards and he dealt with them because he truly wanted her. Any man who wants you will follow your rules. It’s not about RULES like you’re a teacher or something, its waaaaaay more subtle than that. It’s about commanding respect and showing him your worth with out being a bitch or demanding. Val simply said, “I don’t want to rush. I want to take it slow and just get to know you even before our first kiss” and Jerry honored that because she was sincere and serious about her standards. He waited and he got the kiss! He even bathed her and put her to bed without expecting anything sexual from her… but the icing on the cake is he already knew what it would lead to … yes he knew he would get the kiss, yes he’d get the goodies, but while he waited– he’d also gained her trust.. deeper affection.. deeper connection… and when a woman sees that you’re not ONLY after her for the goodies… IT. IS. ON.

So my point is… Men, if your game is tight…SEX is not an “if” it’s a when… And if you’re really into her then “when” has no deadline and the deadline isn’t a worry because it will come… and Women, know you’re worth! Granted men have needs & can’t wait forever and we women want it just as much… But in a situation deeper than sex, real men prioritize a woman’s need for a mental and spiritual connection over the physical, because he knows that once those needs are met there’s only a matter of time before the physical is a mutual desire. And isn’t it beautiful to be on the same page….
